ENOLA, Pa. — A 23-year-old North Carolina man is facing rape charges after police say he traveled to Central Pennsylvania to engage in sexual intercourse with an underaged girl last year.
Brayan Yael Garcia-Vazquez, of Havelock, NC, was charged this month with felony counts of statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, sexual abuse of children, corruption of minors, indecent assault, aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and rape after an investigation by East Pennsboro Township Police.
He is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old Enola girl whom he had encountered online, according to police.
The victim's mother contacted authorities after a friend of the victim texted her a video of the victim and Garcia-Vazquez engaging in sexual intercourse. The friend told the victim's mother "she felt she needed to know what (the victim) was up to," police said.
In an interview with authorities, the victim initially denied it was her in the video, but later admitted that it was her, according to the criminal complaint affidavit filed by police.
The victim told police she and Garcia-Vazquez engaged in intercourse on two occasions, that Garcia-Vazquez had traveled to Pennsylvania to have sex with her, that he was in his 20's, and that he knew she was 12-years-old at the time, according to the complaint.
The victim also told police she was aware that Garcia-Vazquez had taken videos of them having sex, admitting that he had sent a video to her, which she had saved in a Snapchat folder titled "For My Eyes Only."
The video was obtained by friend who knew the victim's password, one of whom sent it to the victim's mother, police determined.
Garcia-Vazquez is not yet in custody, according to court records.
