DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Update, June 7 (noon): The Dauphin County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on 18-year-old Tyron Perrin and determined his cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.
Perrin's manner of death was ruled a homicide.
His family released the following statement:
As a family, we would like to express our sincere thanks to Superintendent Tamara Willis, Principal David Archer, and the staff and school community of Susquehanna Township High School for their heartfelt condolences, gestures of kindness, and prayers in the tragic and unfathomable death of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Tyron Perrin.
As a member of the Class of 2024, Tyron’s graduation was expected to be one of the proudest moments of his and our lives. As a student-athlete at Susquehanna Township High School, he worked hard to achieve both academic and athletic goals. Sadly, due to a senseless and horrific act of violence, Tyron’s dreams, potential, and future plans for education and service in the United States military will never, ever be realized.
As we somehow try to accept the painful reality of Tyron’s death, we are grateful for the opportunity to have attended Susquehanna’s graduation ceremony to accept his high school diploma, as well as his cap and gown, in which our beloved son will be laid to rest in the coming days.
Our family has gone from the joy of planning Tyron’s graduation party to the devastation of planning his funeral. Our hearts are broken. Our pain is profound. And our grief is unspeakable.
