State Police investigating suspicious infant death in Fulton County

FULTON COUNTY, Pa. — State Police in Fulton County are investigating the suspicious death of an infant.

According to a press release, Troopers from the McConnellsburg Barracks were called to Lincoln Way East at the intersection of South Second Street (U.S. Route 522) at 8:45 a.m. on March 11.

Troopers reportedly discovered an unresponsive infant at the scene. Despite immediate medical intervention, the infant was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fulton County Coroner's Office.

Officials stated that the circumstances surrounding the infant's death are currently under investigation by State Police. The situation is being treated as suspicious, and investigators are working to uncover the cause and circumstances of the death.

Preliminary findings indicate that the baby was born less than 24 hours before being found at the intersection and is estimated to be 36-37 weeks gestational age. Authorities have created a NamUs entry for the infant.

Troopers are asking anyone who may have an in car-camera and drove through the intersection between the evening of March 10 and morning of March 11 to check the footage for anything relevant to the case.

Authorities urge anyone with information relevant to this case to come forward and assist in the investigation. Regardless of how insignificant it may seem, any information could be crucial in providing answers.
