State Police investigating York County hit-and-run

The victim was struck and fell back five feet when the driver allegedly pulled over to make sure she was alive and then drove away.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — State Police are investigating a reported hit-and-run in York County. 

The incident occurred on Oct. 5 at 7:40 p.m. in Red Lion Borough when a car traveling east on West Broadway and a pedestrian, identified as Leah M. Cotterman, 36, from Red Lion, was walking across the crosswalk that runs parallel to West Broadway across N. Franklin St. 

The car was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed and turned onto N. Franklin Street without clearance and struck Cotterman's left side in the middle of the crosswalk. 

Cotterman was pushed due to the impact and reportedly fell five feet from the crosswalk and landed on her back. 

The driver of the vehicle pulled over to verify Cotterman was alive and then fled the scene. 

Cotterman was transported to York Hospital and underwent surgery due to her injuries. 

State Police are investigating.
