FULTON COUNTY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania State Trooper is facing charges for driving intoxicated while on duty.

According to a release from the State Police Communications Office, on Nov. 20 a supervisor found Justin Dibert driving a police vehicle during his shift at the PSP McConnellsburg Station while under the influence of alcohol.

Dibert, 34, has been with PSP since Feb. 2021.

On the night Dibert was charged, his supervisor observed he was exhibiting signs of intoxication, including slurred and low speech, when he spoke to him. The supervisor requested Dibert to perform a field sobriety test, during which he displayed further signs of impairment, according the criminal complaint filed against him.

Dibert also submitted to a preliminary breath test that displayed a positive reading for alcohol, according to investigators.

At that point, his supervisor contacted State Police Troop H in Chambersburg to assist in the investigation of a potential DUI incident, according to the criminal complaint filed against Dibert.

A State Police corporal from Troop H in Chambersburg arrived and spoke to Dibert. During the interview, the corporal noted the moderate odor of alcohol emanating from Dibert, and observed that Dibert had glassy and bloodshot eyes.

The investigating corporal asked Dibert to take a chemical blood test, which determined he had a Blood Alcohol Leval of .153%, which is over the legal limit.

Dibert, who has served in Troop G since 2021, is charged with DUI/Unsafe Driving, DUI/BAC .10%-.16%, and carless driving.

Officials said he is currently on "restricted duty" status due to the charges but didn't elaborate on what that means; they also didn't say how long he'll be on restricted duty.

His preliminary arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 19.
