COLUMBIA, Pa. — The Columbia Borough Police Department is looking for a driver accused of hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene early this morning.

Officers say they responded to the 900 block of Lancaster Avenue just before 12:20 a.m. on Oct. 16 for a report of a person struck.

At the scene, they found a 47-year-old man who had been hit by a passing car that did not stop. The pedestrian told police he had been using a gas can to refill his truck, which had run out of fuel when the car hit him.

An ambulance took the man to a hospital with an undetermined minor to moderate injury, according to the police department.

Officers found car parts at the scene that indicate that the striking vehicle was a black 2015 - 2018 Nissan Versa. They say the suspect vehicle will be missing the passenger side mirror and may have other damage on the passenger side.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Columbia Borough Police at 717-684-7735 or make a tip through the Crimewatch page.
