York County man indicted for allegedly attempting to rob five businesses at knifepoint

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A York County man was indicted for allegedly robbing or attempting to rob five businesses at knifepoint in October. 

According to the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Mark S. Herrick, 47, from Hanover was indicted by a federal grand jury for five counts of interference and attempted interference with commerce by robbery. 

United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam announced that the indictment alleges that between Oct. 24 and Oct. 29, 2023, Herrick robbed, or attempted to rob, five different businesses with a knife. 

The five businesses reportedly stretched across three counties. 

The robberies were investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Palmyra, Swatara, and Lower Allen Police Departments. 

The maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is 20 years in prison, a three-year term of supervised release following jail and a $250,000 fine.
