YORK COUNTY, Pa. — York County police arrested a woman after she allegedly stole an ambulance from them, causing a brief chase.

According to York City Police Captain Daniel Lentz, the ambulance was stolen around 10 p.m. on Nov. 7 along the 200 block of North Duke Street.

The suspect, 53-year-old  Barbara Smith of York, allegedly took off in the vehicle, leading police 14 blocks before pulling the ambulance over near WellSpan York Hospital.

According to Lentz, Smith then exited the vehicle and attempted to run from officers.
