HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Cumberland County man faces over two years in prison for stealing identities and then using them to obtain unauthorized prescriptions with controlled substances, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today.
Zedan RaShwan, 25, formerly of Camp Hill, used stolen identities to order unauthorized prescriptions with codeine, oxycodone and other controlled substances.
Authorities say RaShwan and others worked together to steal the identities and DEA registration numbers of health care providers to order unauthorized prescriptions at multiple pharmacies. These controlled substances include medications such as promethazine with codeine, oxycodone, hydrocodone and clonazepam.
RaShwan and his co-conspirators then distributed the medications, law enforcement said.
He has been in custody since pleading guilty on March 1, 2023 to wire fraud conspiracy and aggravated identity theft offenses. RaShwan was sentenced to 28 months in prison.
