CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Light weights and low impact with a high reward and instant gratification!
“It’s great because we can get people who are pregnant, post-partum, recovering from an injury or any sort of issues because it’s low impact and the movements are very small. So, there’s a low risk of injury,” said Courtney Farinelli, Barre Instructor at H2L Studio.
All are welcome to experience their version of “barre burn” at H2L Studio.
“I try to pick things that you can modify them or you can add a challenge so that all fitness levels can be in the same room and get a great workout that suits them,” Farinelli said.
Sprouting from ballet, this barre class draws on classic dance positions while merging muscle groups to build strength and endurance from head to toe.
“I might be targeting your arms but I’m throwing some leg moves in too so that time isn’t wasted. We can truly do full body in that short amount of time,” Farinelli said.
Many clients enjoy the 45-minute music-based workout and have noticed the results from consistently attending.
"[I feel] just stronger because of doing it. I mean, my shoulders, my hips, my knees. And I feel like it has really benefitted me. I’m a grandma, so it’s easier to pick up those grandchildren and play with them the way that they would want me to play with them,” said Adele Keul, a three-year client of H2L Studio.
New clients are encouraged to move at their own pace and to modify as necessary. Trainers also say that attendees do not need any sort of dance background to give the workout a try.
“Just to take that first step, takes some courage. But when you are finished with the class you automatically feel refreshed and flexible and ready to go,” Keul said.
