YORK, Pa. —

Vaccines reduce Alzheimer's risk

A recent University of Texas study found that adults who received routine vaccinations against shingles had a reduced risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.

Although scientists don't fully understand why, health experts say vaccination reduces the likelihood of an inflammatory response. Right now, the data is being looked at as a risk reduction strategy for Alzheimer's, rather than a cure.

Exercise can help ease aging

Researchers from Iowa analyzed the responses from people from all over the country to questions regarding anxiety and how they felt about aging.

They found that having a positive view of exercise can help facilitate the aging process and help people adapt better to lifestyle changes. The team also noted women between the ages of 40 and 49 were more worried about their appearance than men in the same group.

The study was published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health.

More teens are driving tired

A national sleep foundation survey claims lots of teens say they're driving while tired. In fact, one in six teens say they've driven when drowsy within their first two years of driving.

Ninety-five percent admitted that it's risky but still viewed being drunk or distracted as more dangerous. School commitments and sports were the top two factors for causing drowsy driving, which kills about 6,400 people a year.

The Sleep Foundation says teens who are driving still need eight to 10 hours of sleep a night.
