Intermittent fasting for more weight loss
According to researchers at the University of Illinois-Chicago, intermittent fasting, where people eat only at certain times during the day, is a better way to lose weight than counting calories.
Scientists found when people ate only during certain hours, like noon to 8 p.m., they lost more weight than others who cut calorie intake by 25%. Long-term blood sugar levels also dropped for those who ate during time-restricted periods.
One study author says it's easier to count time than to count calories.
Listening to your favorite music can reduce pain
Music can heal the soul... but what about physical pain?
A new study looked at data from study participants who received moderately painful sensations in their inner forearm. Researchers say when participants listened to their favorite music, their pain was strongly reduced, compared to listening to unfamiliar songs. They also discovered that "moving" and "bittersweet" music increased musical chills, which could help block pain signals.
The study was published in the "Frontiers in Pain Research" journal.
FDA warns against use of certain eye drops
The FDA says 26 products that treat dry or irritated eyes could present bacterial infection risks and even lead to partial loss of vision or blindness.
The affected eye drop products were marketed under several store brands, including CVS Health, Target's Up and Up and Rite-Aid.
The agency says its investigators found unsanitary conditions in the manufacturing facility. They also said there were positive bacterial test results from "environmental sampling of critical drug production areas in the facility."
The FDA says CVS, Rite-Aid and Target are all removing the products from store shelves and online.
