YORK COUNTY, Pa. — With travel season right around the corner, many may be struggling to sneak in workouts while on the go.
York JCC personal trainer, Susannah Gillespie, has three moves that will work you from top to toe, no matter where you go this summer in this week's FOX43 FitMinute!
Gillespie says that these moves are great because they don't require much space and no equipment is needed.
She says that clients have also requested something they can do at an airport, hence the use of the chair. If a chair is unavailable you can try these moves using the floor.
The first move is the classic squat.
"The reason I like the chair is it gives you a little bit of guidance as to where your booty needs to go. So we are going to place your feet in front of the chair, chest up, shoulders down, weight in your heels. [Then] you are going to sit back, tap your booty and come right back up,” Gillespie said.
The next move is the push up using the chair.
“We are going to turn around and face into your chair, hands are going to sit on the chair, [and] I like to wrap my fingers around the chair. And you are just going to lower however low you feel like you need to go for a nice push up. Squeeze your inner thighs together, keep your shoulders nicely engaged,” Gillespie said.
The last move is called the dip.
"We are going to sit on the edge of your chair, and walk your feet forward [with your] hands right behind you. I like to curl my fingers in front, and we are going to lower down, pressing your palms into the lift. Lower down and lift,” Gillespie said.
Repetitions can range for each move between 10-to-12 per round, and try cycling through the exercise 3-to-5 times through.
