DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Now that summer is in full swing, CommUNITY Yoga Space is bringing its yoga classes outdoors along the river.
The practice of yoga now comes to life with your feet in the grass and face in the sun.
“I think it brings more of that connection to nature even though we are still in Midtown here. But to be able to touch the grass, dirt, and bugs around us. Seeing animals, hearing the birds, the trees,“ said Zachary Hoffman, Yoga Instructor for CommUNITY Yoga Space.
It helps transport yoga goers from Harrisburg city life to a more calm and relaxing state.
Instructors believe being one with nature during practice makes for a more powerful experience for those who just need a rest - and all are welcome to enjoy!
“It doesn’t matter what level you are at. [A] beginner, to someone that’s been doing it for years, you know all are welcome,” Hoffman said.
Instructors think of all skill levels when creating each class, and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace.
The overarching point is to clear the mind and cleanse the body.
“It really helps to kind of quiet the mind in a beneficial way because the mind can be so chatty. So it can be difficult to navigate life with a foggy mind. And it can help to relax the body too,” Hoffman explained.
Outdoor timeslots avoid peak heat times and are located at different points along the river.
Classes are drop-in and pay-as-you-wish so they are accessible to all.
The outdoor classes run through August, and the indoor classes are available all year round. If inclement weather is forecast, just call the space's number (717) 856 0263 for information.
