YORK, Pa. — The Conestoga Wagon made a historic move on Thursday to its new home.
The wagon, which was located at the Agriculture and Industrial Museum in York, moved only a couple blocks away to its new location at the new York County History Center museum on North Pershing Avenue.
Dan Fink, the vice president of marketing and public relation for the York County History Center, says this is a huge milestone for the new museum's construction project.
That process to move the Conestoga Wagon took some time on Thursday morning.
Kinsley Construction crews loaded the wagon on a flatbed truck using forklifts and straps. They used the same process to unload it at the new location—with forklifts and possibly a crane to help—just outside the doors into the museum.
FOX43's Tyler Hatfield caught up with the wagon as it was unloaded at its new home:
The new History Center museum on North Pershing Avenue is expected to open this summer. Member-only events are happening in June, followed by a grand opening community celebration Aug. 2 - 4.
