YORK COUNTY, Pa. — 717 Vintage Fest is back for its eighth annual event and nostalgia couldn’t be higher in West Manchester Township.
The event is sponsored by Explore York and hosted by Revolt Style Studio based in York.
“Every time it’s like at least six months of work leading up to each event and so you get nervous and hope it’s going to work out even if you’ve done it before, so when we’re here, we’re set up and the shoppers are coming in, that’s when the relief comes,” said organizer and Revolt Style Studio owner Jessica Weikert.
Vintage is commonly referred to as something more than 20-years=old.
Shoppers were sure to find unique treasures from every decade with more than 60 vendors to choose from.
Items for sale included jewelry, furniture, toys, and clothing.
The event also offered tarot readings and tattoos.
“I see a lot of people from maybe a generation above us coming back for that nostalgia, to find the piece they’ve been looking for that they had when they were 20, and you have kids our age that want to support sustainable fashion or find a cool vintage piece of their favorite sports team,” said Mitchell Spittle with Nittany Thrifts.
For Portia Slaughter from York County, the festival is an opportunity to find the perfect outfit.
“I’m very into patterns and colors, even in my modern wear, what I wear to work, and style is usually bright and that’s one of the things that I like about vintage,” Slaughter said.
The festival is also a place to network for vendors.
“For me I have two kids, so it helps me a lot. We had the one in May that helped pay for summer vacations, this one is going to help pay for Christmas, so it’s just small businesses seeing every item that’s sold to us, and it means something to us,” said Kayla Blair with Poppy & Asters Vintage.
“As a vintage business myself I want my vendors to have an amazing time, so to know they are selling stuff is the best,” Weikert said.
Doors reopen at 10 am and will close by 4 pm at York Expo Center Horticultural Hall on Sunday.
Weikert expects to host a ninth annual event in spring 2025 but does not have a date confirmed at this time.
