ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. — Adams County orchards and businesses have long been a destination in the fall months for people looking to take advantage of the harvesting season. Those destinations are now looking to attract more visitors in the spring.
Destination Gettysburg has created the Adams County Blossom Belt for 2024, which is a map of 11 stops featuring 13 locations of best places to see the county’s variety of blossoms in full bloom.
The tourism group says the peak season for blossoms is currently underway, and that now is as good a time as ever to pay a visit.
"You can expect miles and miles of beautiful orchards and blossoms right now,” said Destination Gettysburg vice president Carl Whitehill. “You can also visit farm markets. You can go visit restaurants along the way. It's really a nice road trip right here in the backyard of south central Pennsylvania.”
Whitehall says Destination Gettysburg created the Blossom Belt to highlight the beauty and appeal of the area in the spring, rather than only in the peak fall months.
“We really want to get people out of Gettysburg and enjoy the countryside here,” Whitehill said. “It's beautiful out here. Most people know that you should visit Adams County during the fall when all the apples are in the markets. But why not come here in the spring and see all the blossoms? The apples are in bloom right now. And it's just a beautiful ride through the countryside.”
The locations on the Blossom Belt map include orchards, markets, restaurants, breweries and the National Apple Museum in Biglerville.
