Police chase suspect ends up in McSherrystown quarry

The suspect's vehicle was found submerged in a body of water after committing multiple traffic offenses and fleeing from police.

MCSHERRYSTOWN, Pa. — An Adams County police chase ended with a suspect's vehicle submerged in a quarry on Sunday. 

According to the McSherrystown Borough Police Department, the suspect had committed multiple traffic offenses and attempted to flee from authorities.  

The pursuit ended when police found the suspect's vehicle submerged approximately 30 yards into a body of water in a quarry behind the 600 block of Ridge Avenue. 

Inside the car, police discovered an adult male driver and a 17-year-old female passenger. A responding officer began a rescue attempt of the submerged vehicle. There were no injuries to the occupants. 

The driver was arrested for felony fleeing and eluding police, as well as other traffic and crime code offenses.
