ASPERS, Pa. — State Police are investigating an alleged burglary and sexual assault case in Adams County.
The victim was a 79-year-old woman, according to police.
The incident occurred during the overnight hours of Monday and Tuesday on the 1300 block of Center Mills Road in Menhallen Township, police said. The victim reported that a man forced his way into her residence after she answered a knock at the door.
Police stated that evidence suggests the suspect sexually assaulted the victim and rummaged through the victim's property.
The victim was transported to Gettysburg Hospital for medical treatment and was subsequently discharged without serious injury.
Police reminded residents to be vigilant with locking doors and windows and remain cautious when interacting with unknown persons at their homes.
The investigation of the case is ongoing, according to police.
