YORK, Pa. — An event in downtown York will help animal rescues in Pennsylvania to offer the best care possible this weekend.
Ales for Tails is in its third year, and all proceeds raised from Saturday's event will go towards Short Noses Only Rescue Team (SNORT), Animal Rescue Inc. and Blind Dog Rescue Alliance.
Those who would like to support the rescues can do so at Gift Horse Brewing Company starting at noon on Aug. 10. The event will include live music from DJay Starr at noon and The Thompson Triplets at 7 p.m.
Guests will also have the chance to dunk local celebrities in the Dunk Tank and participate in raffles and a silent auction.
The main event is an interspecies race at 3:30 p.m. Five teams consisting of dogs and humans will compete for the gold, and bragging rights. In a word, Ales for Tails co-founder Amanda Brindle describes the event as "fun."
"We definitely put on a good show," Brindle said. "There's a lot of theatrics. We kind of take into account everything going on in the world at the moment... and obviously seeing these guys, meeting the local rescues, food, drinks."
This year, organizers hope to raise $30,000 for the rescues.
The event is kid, and dog, friendly.
Gift Horse can be found at 117 N. George St. in downtown York. For those who cannot make it to the event but still wish to show their support, click here for information on how to make a donation.
