Annual music festival returns to Cumberland County

Iron Bridge Music Festival is in full swing after kicking off at New Cumberland Borough Park on Friday.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — It’s a weekend of dance and rock n roll.

The fourth annual Iron Bridge Music Festival, organized by the Iron Bridge Planning Committee at New Cumberland Borough Park in Cumberland County is back in town.

“This came out of an effort by the revitalization committee in New Cumberland, they wanted to have another event in addition to the Apple Festival in September and so we decided why not have a music festival, everyone likes music right?” said Fred Miles, chairperson of the committee.

The festival kicked off on Friday and runs all weekend.

Organizers expect more than 3,000 people to walk through the gates at no charge.

Miles said the event receives its funding through sponsorships.

“There’s really nothing like in the area, as far as a free concert, especially a multi-day concert with the quality of music that we have, I think it’s really a regional attraction,” Miles said.

The festival features artists from across Pennsylvania, some small and some large.

Deuce Gibb from the Martini Brothers has performed Rock-n-Roll at the festival since the beginning.

He says it helps expose smaller artists to a wider audience.

“You know last year I think there were 5,000 or 6,000 people here, so that’s more people that a lot of bands, local bands, have ever played for,” Gibb said.

From classic rock to blues, there’s a tune for everyone to dance to.

Performing Friday were Slick Willie, The Super High-Tech Jet Fighters, and the Martini Brothers.

People can expect performances on the showcase stage and the main stage on Saturday.

The showcase stage will feature up-and-coming artists while the main stage will feature artists more recognizable.

Gates open at 11 a.m. on Saturday and admission will remain free but some people will have to pay for parking.

The festival will continue into Sunday at the West Shore Theatre for ‘Jazz at the Movies.’

Doors open at 7 p.m.
