Attorney general responds to removal of Luzerne County's ballot drop boxes

The Attorney General's office has responded after the Luzerne County manager decided not to deploy ballot drop boxes for the upcoming election.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A week after Luzerne County manager Romilda Crocamo asked the state attorney general’s office to investigate her choice to eliminate drop boxes the AG's office has responded.

In a letter to Crocamo, the AG's office says that only the Luzerne County Board of Elections can issue instructions on the ballot boxes for the November 2024 election. The AG's office said Crocamo should work with the Board of Elections to resolve the matter.

If an agreement isn't made, the Board of Elections could file a civil action, and Crocamo could also face criminal charges, including disobeying lawful instruction and hindering or delaying performance of duty.

Newswatch 16 has reached out to Crocamo's attorney for comment and has not heard back.
