LYKENS, Pa. — A boil water advisory has been issued for customers of Lykens Borough Authority.
This morning, December 30, there was a water main leak that has caused water storage tank levels to decrease.
The location of the leak has not yet been found and authorities are warning that there may be an increased risk of disease-carrying bacteria, viruses or parasites contaminating the drinking water as a result of the leak.
On the statement issued by the Borough authority, customers are urged to bring all water to a boil for at least one minute and let it cool before drinking or drink bottled water until the advisory is lifted.
In addition, any water involved in making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation should all be done with boiled or bottled water.
There is currently no timetable available for when the advisory will be lifted.
