Camp Hill's Matthew Lutkins prepares to run in Boston Marathon for himself and others

Matthew Lutkins will be helping the Pennsylvania nonprofit Back On My Feet, which benefits the homeless

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Marathon runners all over the country dream of one day running in the famous Boston Marathon. For Camp Hill native and current Boston University student Matthew Lutkins, that dream is close to happening.

However, running in the famous marathon isn't just for Lutkins, but for others as well. He will be helping the Pennsylvania nonprofit Back On My Feet, which benefits the homeless.

"I reached out to them in October and they have me on their team for this year's Boston Marathon," said Lutkins. "I could not be happier, they stand for everything I'm about."

This will also be the first marathon that Lutkins takes part in. His running passion dates back to high school when he ran for Camp Hill. He describes his training as intense yet enjoyable.

"Marathons are no joke, I am running 40 miles a week," said Lutkins. "I'm also doing cross-training and eating differently. It's been really enjoyable and I can't wait."

While Lutkins' training has increased, so too have the donations for Back on my Feet. He's already raised around $6,000 for the nonprofit.

"I run not only for people affected by homelessness but [also for] everyone connected through the Boston Marathon," said Lutkins. "All the different communities that have helped me and impacted me throughout this process is why I'm doing it."

Donations to Lutkins cause can be found on the GivenGains website.
