HARRISBURG, Pa. — A City of Harrisburg building will be closed today due to smoke, officials announced Thursday morning.

The MLK Building will be closed on Aug. 8. The City originally posted that the building was closed due to an "unfortunate fire" in the IT department. However, it has since been reported that a UPS server in the basement was smoking.

There was no fire.

As a precaution, the building was evacuated.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure everyone's safety," city officials said. "Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our residents and staff."

The building will be open Friday, Aug. 9 at 8 a.m.
