FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa.– A 15-year-old girl drowned at Caledonia State Park on Saturday.
On July 28 around 6:35 p.m., State Police in Chambersburg were contacted by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, who were currently at the Chambersburg Hospital in connection to an accidental drowning.
It was found that a 15-year-old girl drowned due to medical issues while in the Caledonia State Park swimming pool in Greene Township.
The girl’s father contacted FOX43 News. He says the girl took a swim test upon arrival at the pool and received the band to go to the deep end. He says he remembers talking to her, and then losing sight of her while swimming. He thought she was with other siblings and began to look for her, only to see another swimmer bringing her out of the water.
Robert Peters says he performed CPR on his daughter for at least two minutes before lifeguards attempted to hook her up to a defibrillator. He says the girl’s feet were still in the water initially when they were hooking her up and he told them to put her on dry ground.
State Police are conducting the accidental death investigation.
