Bojangles has a lot of energy, but the last two weeks have been rough. "We know that he was adopted from a shelter. And then the guy who adopted him no longer wanted him so witnesses saw the man throw him out of a moving vehicle and because he was blind he got hit by a car," said Speranza Animal Rescue's founder Janine Guido.
That was in Ohio. A different rescue stepped in, but he was aggressive towards other dogs so they gave him up. That's when Guido, who's rescue is in Mechanicsburg, volunteered to take him. She said that his aggressiveness towards other dogs isn't because he's mean. It's because he can't see and is scared.
He's doing better since being abandoned, but will need surgery on a broken wrist as well as on his eyes. "His eyelids, he has a condition where they roll in so that they're constantly scratching against the front surface of his eye, his cornea so he has some pretty severe scarring there," said Amber Crow who is a veterinarian at the Dillsburg Veterinary Center.
Despite all that Bojangles has been through, he's still a love bug wanting nothing more than to cuddle. "He blames nobody, he really doesn't. He's just the happiest tail wagging dog that you've ever met," said Guido. Bojangles will stay with Janine at the Speranza Animal Rescue until she can find him a forever home.
