LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – A Lititz woman escapes injury but her car is heavily damaged after hitting a cow. The accident happened at about 4:38 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Indiantown Road in rural Clay Township.
Northern Lancaster County Regional Police say 25 year old Brittany Zimmerman’s red Geo Prizm had front end damage and a smashed windshield consistent with hitting a cow.
Zimmerman told officers that she traveling west on Indiantown Road at about 35 miles per hour. She said that she saw several cows in the roadway but was unable to stop or avoid impact with a cow. The animal rolled up onto the hood and windshield of her car.
She said after hitting the cow, the bovine got up and ran south into a field, where she lost sight of it. The farmer who owned the land along the Indiantown Road stopped to check on her, then left to try to locate the cows.
