Harrisburg, PA. - A Philadelphia company making an important donation to K9 units in Dauphin County. Big Barker, which makes dog beds, gave 23 of them to the units during a ceremony in Harrisburg. Officers and their K9s from Harrisburg, Derry Township and Lower Paxton Township were there for the donation event. A Big Barker employee says the beds will help the dogs.
"One problem that large dogs have as they age is that they're very susceptible to joint disease," said Eric Shannon of Big Barker. "As we've grown as a company, we really put an effort forward to give back to some of the dogs that serve our communities the most and the most deserving of those groups is definitely police dogs."
A few officers at the event had retired K9 dogs with them, who also received beds.
