PARADISE (WPMT)-The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has warned consumers who bought raw milk  cheese from Joe Fisher in Lancaster County to immediately discard it because he does not have a license to sell cheese or dairy products.

Fisher’s is located along the 800 block of Strasburg Road in Paradise Township.

Fisher had a variety of raw-milk cheese manufactured between Nov. 2, 2014 and April 10, 2015. Part of this cheese was manufactured at an unpermitted cheese operation.

Agriculture officials have ordered Fisher to stop the sale of all raw cheese and milk.

Pennsylvania law allows farms to have their milk manufactured into raw 60-day, aged hard cheese at properly permitted facilities and with required biological testing completed. Permitted facilities are routinely inspected by state milk sanitarians to verify that required food safety requirements are being met to insure the safety of the consumers.

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture encourages, protects and promotes agriculture and related industries throughout the commonwealth while providing consumer protection through inspection services that impact the health and financial security of Pennsylvania’s citizens.
