GUILFORD TWP., Franklin County, Pa –The victims of a fiery fatal crash on I-81 South in Franklin County first struck a deer and then were hit by another vehicle from behind. It happened at 5:17am around mile marker 12. A Nissan Sentra struck a deer and became disabled in the traffic lanes. State Police said a man driving a Chevy Trailblazer did not see the disabled Sentra and struck it in the rear, pushing it into the median where it burst into flames.
All occupants of the car were killed. State Police say it appears there were multiple victims. The driver of the Chevy, a 31 year-old man from Chambersburg, was taken to Chambersburg Hospital via ambulance with moderate injuries. The crash is still under investigation. Interstate 81 southbound was closed for several hours at mile marker 14.
