A production on a Lancaster stage has landed a local theater group in court.
Disney Enterprises and several other companies have filed a lawsuit against Entertainment Theatre Group d/b/a American Music Theatre and James D. Martin, Frederick W. Steudler, Jr. and Dwight H. Brubaker, all of Lancaster, in US District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
The lawsuit centers on the musical stage production, “Broadway: Now and Forever.”
Disney and the other plaintiffs claim that the show infringes upon several copyrights and trademarks owned by the plaintiffs.
The production allegedly depicts scenes from Mary Poppins, The Lion King and Spider-Man.
The lawsuit is asking the court to put a stop to the show and seeks monetary damages.
Our calls to the named defendants in the lawsuit were not returned.
The American Music Theatre website shows the production continuing until October 12.
