East Lampeter Township, Pa. -- While autumn is just settling in, Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster County is looking ahead to summertime.

The amusement park announced Monday that it will offer a brand new attraction to visitors in the Summer of 2017.  The new ride is called Merlin's Mayhem.  Riders help the wizard Merlin find his lost dragon, Mayhem, while traveling on a hanging coaster that runs more than 1,300 feet of track.

"From the time guests enter the ride until the time they get off, they're looking for Mayhem around the park, and hopefully bringing him back safely to Merlin every time," said Rick Stammel, General Manager of Dutch Wonderland.

Park officials say it will cost $7.5 million to create the new ride, which will feature a host of special effects.  Construction starts this week.

Dutch Wonderland is a family-friendly theme park, geared toward children.  It first opened to the public in 1963 and has been voted one of the Top 5 Best Kid’s Parks in the World by Amusement Today magazine.
