MOUNT JOY TWP., Pa. – An Adams County barn is destroyed in a late afternoon fire. The fire broke out at about 4:30 pm at a farm at 175 King Road, Mount Joy Township, near Gettysburg.
Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles. It took firefighters from a dozen volunteer fire companies about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control. About two thousand bales of hay, several tractors and a manure wagon were destroyed in the fire. The property owner reported suffered minor burns attempting to fight the fire. He refused medical treatment.
A State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
