An early morning fire ripped through a building in York County, York Township.
Fire Chief Joseph Yahnke with the Red Lion Fire Department said the blaze broke out around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday along the 1st block of Country Club Road.
The building was the old Red Lion Country Club building but is now owned by the Red Lion School District.
We’re told the building was vacant at the time and has been for quite a while.
Chief Yahnke says the cold temperatures Wednesday morning created several challenges for them as they battled the fire.
“Fighting a fire is very difficult in these type of temperatures with the ground being very icy; people slipping and falling," he said. "It's a one lane area coming back here so it’s hard to get the right amount of apparatus at the right amount of time,” Yahnke added.
Chief Yahnke said one Red Lion firefighter was taken to a local hospital for treatment but that he’s fine now.
The Fire Marshal is currently investigating what caused the fire.
Chief Yahnke says they do not have an exact estimate of the damages but that it appears the building is a total loss.
