LEBANON, Pa.– A volunteer firefighter was taken to the hospital while responding to a house fire he spotted while off duty in Lebanon.

According to officials, Hunter Umbenhauer and his brother, Tyler Zimmerman, were driving home when they stopped to help residents. They told the people inside the home what was going on because it didn’t seem like they were aware.

The fire occurred at 302 Iona Road around 10:30 Friday night.

Firefighter hospitalized after Lebanon house fire

Umbenhauer was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. His current condition is not known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Red Cross is helping one person who was displaced.
