WASHINGTON, DC. (WPMT) A 27 year veteran of the Postal Service with local ties, Postmaster General designate Megan J. Brennan, begins her new duties February 1. Brennan who began her career in 1986 as a letter carrier in Lancaster County, will be the 74th and first female Postmaster General. She replaces Postmaster General, Patrick R. Donahoe, who is retiring.
Brennan will oversee 491,000 employees career employees working in more than 31,000 facilities supported by a fleet of over 200,000 vehicles. Brennan was named Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President in December 2010.
She takes an operation that reported a $5.5 billion net loss in 2014. It was the 8th consecutive year that USPS has reported a loss despite increased revenue of $569 during the fiscal year.
