The Eagle Cam in Hanover showed a sad scene Wednesday afternoon, as both parents left the nest for several minutes.

The eaglet that hatched Monday evening did not appear to be moving, or making any noise, and flies could be seen around the nest.

One of the parents has since returned to the nest to sit on the remaining egg.

The Pa Game Commission confirmed the Eaglet’s death on Twitter saying,

“It appears the eaglet that hatched on Monday night on the #PGCeaglecam did not survive. Nature can be difficult to watch at times.”

On Facebook a posted reminded people that the live stream provides an opportunity to view wildlife in its natural setting, and sometimes that my be difficult to watch.

The Game Commission says they will continue to monitor the nest and the second egg.

Anyone who encroaches a 660-foot perimeter of a nest is in violation of federal law.
