YORK CITY, Pa.–Representative-elect Carol Hill-Evans on Wednesday turned in her notice of resignation, giving up her Council President seat on the York City Council.
Hill-Evans, a Democrat, was elected Tuesday to the 95th District, which serves the City of York, Spring Garden Township, West Manchester Township and West York Borough.
She beat out her Republican opponent, Joel Sears.
Hill-Evans is taking over for incumbent Rep. Kevin Schreiber, who in mid-August announced he was leaving the state Legislature to accept a position as president and CEO of the York County Economic Alliance. He will serve out the remainder of his current term, which ends November 30.
Hill-Evans served on York City Council for 8 years. Her resignation went into effect on November 9.

“It has been an honor to serve the City of York as a member of York City Council for the past 8 years and I am extremely proud of our accomplishments and our civic spirit. As you know, I have been elected to serve as Pennsylvania State Representative of the 95th Legislative District and, as a result, I am no longer able to fulfill my duties on York City Council. So it is with great gratitude, and sadness, that I must resign my position on York City Council effective November 9, 2016 at 12:01 a.m.”
“While I regret that I must relinquish this position, I look forward to serving the City of York, as well as Spring Garden Township, West Manchester Township and West York Borough in this new role.”
“I am proud of what we have accomplished together on behalf of the residents of the City of York and I have worked alongside of some excellent colleagues. With this opportunity I intend to continue to serve our community and I look forward to working together and I’m excited about the things to come!”
With admiration and appreciation,
Carol Hill-Evans
