EAST HEMPFIELD TWP. Pa. - After a preliminary survey of the damage, meteorologists from the National Weather Service in State College, determined a EF-1 tornado went through parts of Lancaster County.

Brooke Bowman lives on Little Mac Dr. in Landisville and says she woke up when a tree hit her window around midnight Wednesday. Later in the morning, she saw the damage on her street.

"I was just shocked because there were trees in the street, we couldn't get out, our neighbors were stuck in their driveway, there was just debris everywhere," she said.

"A lot of people were not awake and weren't aware of all the damage that you know they would wake up to," said East Hempfield Township Manager Robert Krimmel.

No one was hurt and only one family was displaced. There was a small fire in their home during the storm.

At Lime Spring Farms in Roherstown,  an old, historic barn was destroyed.

"To see the barn that is completely leveled, it's devastating. It was a beautiful barn. It was an old barn," said Bob Zuckerman, Lime Spring Farm property owner.

Still Zuckerman considered himself lucky. Even though many trees were uprooted, none hit the historic homes on the property.

"I don't know how such devastation. How you can get so lucky among all this devastation," he said.

NWS will release more details once the survey is complete.
