LOWER ALLEN TWP., Pa. -- The family that lost a little girl to a rare disease is now dealing with thieves stealing from her grave site.

Angel Custer said people are stealing gifts and decorations from her granddaughter's grave site. Her granddaughter, Jaylah, passed away at the age of 2 from Krabbe disease, a rare disorder that affects the nervous system.

Custer said, "The disease took her life. She was stolen from us. And then we come out here and have someone steal from her and her site. It's heartbreaking, it's upsetting, you get very mad."

The thieves are taking items from bobbleheads to Easter egg baskets.

"Everything that she had out here was usually made for her by her grandfather. So it's actually original," Custer said.

But she's not the only one.

Shirley Flook's daughter, Karen, also had items taken from her grave site.

Flook said, "I don't quite understand how somebody could work at somebody's heart by taking things off of their grave site."

Karen worked at the New Cumberland Army Depot. She had open-heart surgery at the age of 30 and was told she'd only live for 20 more years. Flook said many handmade items were stolen from the site, and she even made a sign to try to keep the robbers away.

"Try to keep her grave looking nice and let her know we're thinking about her and miss her but every time we do things are stolen," Flook said.

They hope someone comes forward if they have seen anything.

Custer said, "Whether it's something small that means nothing or something that's valuable that means a lot. You wouldn't want that to happen and you wouldn't want it to happen out of your own yard. This is my yard. And you're stealing from us. But the worst part is you're stealing from a child too."

The manager of the cemetery did not want to go on camera but said the cemetery informs local police when multiple people call in to complain.
