Jim Kelly, actor and martial arts expert who starred opposite the legendary Bruce Lee in “Enter the Dragon”, is dead at the age of 67. The film was released in 1973. Kelly is renowned for breaking down the color barrier to become the first black martial artist to become a movie star. The Kentucky native, who excelled at sports in high school, discovered karate by chance in the mid 1960’s and quickly made it his life’s focus.
In 1971, Kelly won the middleweight division title at the Long Beach International Karate Championships. Kelly described working with Lee, who died in 1973, as one of the best experiences of his life.
