CNN) — Suspected cop-killer Eric Matthew Frein appears to have left notes in the Pennsylvania woods in which he chillingly describes his ambush of a state trooper last month, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said Wednesday.
"Friday September 12, got a shot around 11 p.m. and took it. He dropped, I was surprised by how quick... I took a follow up shot on his head, neck area. He was still and quiet after that. Another cop approached the one I just shot. As he went to kneel, I took a shot at him and he jumped in the door," the note reads, according to Bivens.
Bivens said "After reading this cold-blooded account, I can only describe Frein's actions as pure evil."
Police say that Frien has been seen four times since Friday by officers and citizens, the most recent sighting was yesterday afternoon at a distance of 150 to 200 yards.
The woods have been very difficult to walk through, with very thick brush and at times Bivens said that a trooper couldn't see another trooper that was 15 feet away.
New charges have been filed against Frein, charging him with Possessing Weapons of Mass Destruction after the discovery of pipe bombs.
The devices were equipped with trip wire and loaded with shrapnel, which police say would have caused significant damage to a person.
The amount of money spend on the search is now in the millions, but police are still confident he will be found.
Police compared Frein to the D.C. Sniper, in that he would most likely strike again if left unchecked.
Bivens said, "Pennsylvania State Police didn't pick this fight, but it is ours to finish."
Frein, 31, is suspected in the September 12 ambush that left Cpl. Bryon Dickson dead and Trooper Alex T. Douglass wounded outside the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Blooming Grove, Pennsylvania.
A massive search for Frein followed, at times involving as many as 1,000 officers. Despite sightings and other leads, he has not been caught.
Authorities have said that a review of a computer hard drive used by Frein shows that he had planned the attack for years.
Frein has been described as a survivalist and military reenactment enthusiast with a hatred for law enforcement, authorities say.
