A Keystone Games coach Alicia Colon, 25, of Reading faces charges of hindering the investigation of the rape of a 16 year old girl at a suburban Harrisburg hotel last August. Colon had been the assistant field hockey coach for two years at Kutztown Area High School.

Lower Swatara Township Police began investigating the case on October 27. They were informed of an alleged rape that happened on the night of August 3rd into the early hours of August 4, at the Best Western Hotel on South Eisenhower Boulevard.

Police say that Alicia Colon, 25, of Reading, was acting as an assistant coach during the Keystone Games and was given a room at the Best Western.  On August 3, Colon was going to have a girl’s night with three other females, two of them juveniles, at the room.  The victim was given permission by her family to spend the night. That evening Colon brought  three males to the hotel room to stay overnight.

In the early morning hours, a man identified as Rafael Gomez, 23, of Reading, forcibly raped the victim on the floor, while everyone was present in the room. Immediately afterwards, the victim sent a text message to Colon telling her what had happened. When Colon received the message later in the morning, she made the men leave the room.

After the men left, Colon approached the victim and allegedly told her not to say anything because it could cause Colon to lose her coaching job. The girl eventually told her mother, who then contacted the police.

Charges against Gomez include Rape, Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Indecent Assault, Corruption of Minors, and Unlawful contact with a Minor. Gomez is currently being held in Berks County Prison on an unrelated charge.

Colon surrendered to police this afternoon.  She is charged with 2 counts of Hindering Apprehension, Criminal Use of a Communication Device, 2 counts of Endangering Welfare of Children, and Corruption of Minors. Following arraignment she was freed on $50,000 bail.
