A Florida man, tired of being hounded by code enforcement about how his house looks, decides to give his home a makeover –a very, patriotic makeover.
Brent Greer and his nine children, seven of which are adopted, reside at this home in Bradenton, Florida.
Those driving by can’t miss it! The house is covered in red, white, and blue paint. It’s a huge American flag. In front of the house is a sign, thanking neighbors for their support.
Greer says it all started when he got a knock at the door from a code enforcement officer telling him to remove an old Christmas tree from the front balcony of his home. From there, he says he got a list of cosmetic items that had to done to his home in order to avoid a 250-dollar-a-day fine.
So, he gave his home a make- over. He say it may not be what code officers want- but hey, it’s his home! “It’s to remind the city and all those who live here that this is America. This is a free country. This is my home. This is not a shrine to Riverview Boulevard.
Up next, Greer plans to paint the Liberty Bell on the second floor. The family faces a hearing with the code enforcement board on June 17.
