MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- PENNDOT is putting out information about the new Middletown Train Station. The agency hosted an information session Wednesday at the proposed site for the new station. More than 400 parking spaces will be available for travelers and the site will include a skywalk, to allow students from Penn State Harrisburg to safely cross Route 230 to the new station.
PENNDOT is hoping local businesses will take part in the project, to not only help with the cost, but to bring business to Middletown.
"I think it has a great possibility to generate some economic growth for the area," said Ken Klinepeter, manager of Middletown Boro. "We're real excited that if we get some partners who are looking to do retail or commercial development there, that's also a plus for us."
The estimated cost of the new Middletown Train Station is more than $24 million. Construction is expected to begin in 2018.
