It was a champion's welcome on Saturday in Manchester, York County. The Northeastern Boys Volleyball team returned to the high school, hours after winning a third straight state title.
Northeastern are the kings of Pennsylvania once again, and like the rest of the season, it wasn't even close.
The Bobcats, with only Saegertown in their way of a third straight title, were 22-0 coming in and got to work quickly in the first set.
Philip White got the kill to end a 25-9 first set win.
The second set was a little tougher, but Northeastern's defense was too much for Saegertown. Reese Devilbiss and Jeff Reynolds doubled the fun with a double block, as the Bobcats went up by two sets.
In the third set, Northeastern was up 24-12 sitting on match point. Senior Philip White ended it with the block. It's a three-peat for the Bobcats, a sweep over Saegertown, and another state title.
White says, "Definitely sunk in after the last point. And its definitely sinking in now. As I looked up to my teammates and family getting on that truck its exciting for all of us and wouldn't want to end it any other way."
"We had a long list of goals this past season and it certainly is satisfying to check each one off. Get the sweep as we call it," says Head Coach Matt Wilson.
Northeastern is just the fourth boys volleyball program to three-peat as champs. This is the school's ninth all-time state win.
