Blooming Grove, Pa. — The parents of a slain Pennsylvania State Police Trooper say they have forgiven his alleged killer.

31-year old Eric Frein is accused of killing Corporal Bryon Dickson and critically injuring Trooper Alex Douglass. Investigators say Frein opened fire on the men in an ambush style attack outside of their barracks in Blooming Grove.

Frein fled and was finally captured after a 48-day manhunt in the Fall of 2014.

Corporal Dickson’s parents recently spoke at a church in Monroe County, near the Pocono Mountains region where Frein hid for more than a month. They say forgiveness has helped them move on.

Frein has pleaded not guilty. Corporal Dickson’s mother Darla says she would accept whatever punishment Frein receives if he is convicted, either the death penalty or life in prison.
