A crime spree and a police chase ended with the death of the Perry County man police say is responsible.
Police say the suspect was 23-year-old Donald Tolbert of Duncannon. It started Saturday morning when a woman reported he sexually assaulted her in Duncannon. His family says he had a previous relationship to her.
Tolbert went on the run, by way of an alleged crime spree.
At 1 p.m., he shot and killed a woman on Dellville Road in Wheatfield Township, Perry County. Police say he opened fire while she was in her car, at a stop sign.
Then he stole a red Ford Focus in Duncannon, which his family says belongs to his grandmother.
Next he stole several guns from a home in Howe Township, Perry County, and robbed a convenience store in Dauphin Boro, Dauphin County.
Police spotted Tolbert in the car in Susquehanna Township at 3 p.m. They chased him down 2nd Street and cornered him, and both sides fired.
The District Attorney is investigating whether the shot that killed him was self-inflicted.
Reached by phone, his family says they believe he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and was set off by personal problems.
