Police asking for tips to help identify individuals riding ATV’s through Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa.– Police have received multiple complaints in the last few weeks about people operating dirt bikes and ATV’s throughout Harrisburg. These complaints describe the drivers as traveling wrong way on streets, reckless driving, weaving in and around traffic, and endangering people on the sidewalk.

The individuals riding these vehicles are subject to all motor vehicle laws, and anyone that is stopped while riding them can be issued citations ranging from $100-$1000 depending on the number of citations issued. Parents are also in danger for being cited if they allow their children to operate the vehicle on city streets.

Thus far, police have not been able to stop these individuals because they flee from officers and weave in and out of traffic to escape. The officers will not chase the riders as to not endanger the public with a vehicle chase for traffic offenses.

Harrisburg Police is asking anyone that recognizes one of these individuals to submit a tip through Crime Watch, and they will remain confidential.
